Janice Richardson – strokovnjakinja Sveta Evrope za digitalno državljanstvo, digitalno pismenost, vpliv spleta na počutje otrok in za njihovo zaščito na spletu Values and attitudes are shaped from early childhood, especially nowadays given the impact of digital technology in many children’s lives. Families therefore play a key role in setting their children off positively on the road to becoming digital citizens. Yet a 2021-2022 study conducted with 21,000 parents in 46 Council of Europe member States indicates that only 1 in 3 parents really understand what digital citizenship is, and the competences that children need to interact responsibly and with empathy both on- and offline. This presentation will look at findings from this and other recent studies, offering insight on how to connect with educators and engage with parents. It will also showcase some of the resources developed by the Council of Europe to help them in this challenging mission.
